Icebreaker Triathlon

So it has always been a goal of mine to be able to do a triathlon. This last Saturday I finally fulfilled that goal. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but it was such a blast! I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it! It was such a challenge, but so rewarding once I crossed that finish line. I did the tri with three ladies that I work with, Sarah, Krista, and Pam! I definitely couldn't have done it without them. As I was leaving my house it was 40 degrees. I was so nervous for the cold. Luckily we dressed really warm, and the sun finally came out!
So it started with the swim. It was 300 meters. It was better then I expected it to be. I had heard tragic stories of people swimming over the top of you, so I was really nervous. An older guy would walk the in the shallow end, and then when he would try to swim in the deep part and would end up kicking me. I was so annoyed, but I finally passed him! I finished the swim in 7:02
So apparently I must have been mad at someone seeing as I am flipping them off
This is my dear sweet friend Pamela. I think she needs a bigger helmet what do you think? Seeing as she left the tag on I am sure she can still return it
The bike was my favorite part. It was 12 miles, and I enjoyed every minute of it!! It sounds weird, but I couldn't stop smiling. I just kept telling myself to push it just a little harder.
I finished the bike in 52 minutes. I was definitely slow, but for only being on a bike twice I felt like I did pretty good!

Me and Pam starting our run. I am not going to lie the run was extremely hard. My legs did not want to work. I almost felt like I was not moving. Finally after the first mile they felt great, and I was able to kick it in gear.
Cute little E cheering me on
I was finally at the finish line. So I finished strong, and sprinted it to the end! I finished the run in 28 minutes.
I never thought that I would ever be able to do a triathlon, but I can now say that I can. I learned that I can do anything as long as I put my mind to it!! It is so rewarding crossing that finish line knowing that I had trained so hard, and I did it!! All of the hard work paid off! My final time was 1:35. I have room for improvement, but am so happy that I finished!

I am so grateful for my friends and family who came to support me. My great parents, Easton, Gege and Pop, and Linds. I am also grateful for my grandpa and for taking such great pictures so that I could remember this.
Pam, me, Krista, and Sarah
Thanks girls for the great day, and for pushing me to do hard things!! Sure do love you!!
